Rosacea is a skin disorder which affects the face. However, in the more serious cases it can spread to the neck and upper body. Rosacea skin care should be top of your list when trying to keep this condition under control. If you irritate your skin or don’t look after it properly, your rosacea symptoms will worsen.
There are many products that should be avoided when cleansing the skin on your face and some of the biggest culprits have been listed below:
- Witch Hazel
- Fragrance in general is not considered to be a good form of rosacea skin care
- Eucalyptus oil
The fact is that when you contract rosacea, your skin becomes far more sensitive than it once was and your skin care is something that’s really important. You will suffer with symptoms such as itching, burning or stinging on your skin with this disorder, and if you use products that are not good for you, this can exacerbate those symptoms.
Rosacea Skin Care in General
There are a few things we would like to give you some advice on in terms of rosacea skin care before we move on to the sort of products you should use. First of all, you have to be gentle with the skin on your face. The slightest amount of irritation can cause a flare-up. NEVER use abrasive items such as sponges or face cloths, and when you dry your face, don’t rub it with a towel. Instead, you should pat your face dry or leave to air dry if possible and don’t forget your Rosacea diet!
The Products You Should Use
If you happen to use a shampoo or conditioner on your hair that contains any of these, this will not help if you’re looking at how to treat rosacea naturally. When the shampoo is rinsed off it will touch your skin. This will cause irritation on your face, and won’t help with your daily skin care routine.
Choose products such as cleansers, moisturizers, shampoos and conditioners that have been formulated for people with sensitive skin. You can even find products that have been formulated with rosacea treatment in mind, and these will be labeled to let you know. It’s not just cleansing products you have to be careful of, if you wear make-up, you will also have to make sure the brands you choose are as natural as possible.
As mentioned, fragrance is a major cause of irritation to the skin when you have rosacea and this should be avoided at all costs. Read the label on any product you buy carefully and look out for ingredients that point towards some sort of perfume or fragrance. Before using any product for the first time, you should do a test on a part of your body to make sure you don’t react to it.
